Nazik Dinçtopal Deniz is a full-time faculty member at Boğaziçi University, Department of Foreign Language Education. She has a secondary appointment in the Cognitive Science M.A. Program at the same university. She received her Ph.D. degree in linguistics from the Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY). Before coming to Boğaziçi, she taught at Columbia University, Queens College (CUNY) and LaGuardia Community College (CUNY). She currently teaches undergraduate courses on language awareness and second language acquisition and graduate courses on psycholinguistics and methods in (experimental) research and data analysis.
Her research focuses on first and second language processing. She is specifically interested in rhythmic influences in sentence processing and prosodic disambiguation in syntactic and morphological processing in Turkish. She also investigates syntactic, lexical and prosodic factors in sentence processing routines of second language speakers. She is the co-director of the psycholinguistics laboratory in the Foreign Language Education Department.
