About Double Major Programs
The Department of Foreign Language Education offers double major programs with the Department of Translation and Interpreting and the Department of Linguistics.

The deadline for double major applications is announced in the Boğaziçi University Academic Calendar.
Please note:
• You can apply for a place in the double major program at the beginning of your third, fourth, or fifth semester.
• The minimum GPA requirement for double major programs is 3.00; however, some departments may require a higher GPA and have quota restrictions.
• To be eligible to apply for a place in a double major program, you must have passed all your courses successfully. If you have an F on your transcript, you must repeat that course and obtain a passing grade before applying.
• Applications are made to both departments simultaneously.
• Individual departments may have additional requirements (demand a statement of purpose, hold interviews, etc.). Please refer to the website of the host department for further details.

For Your Application:
The Double Major (ÇAP) with the Department of Linguistics and the Department of Translation & Interpreting Studies has recently been approved by the University Senate and will begin admitting students in the coming semesters.
Unfortunately, the program could not be launched in time for the Fall 2025 application period. However, we are planning to open applications for the Spring 2026 semester. Students in their 3rd or 4th semester considering applying to this program in the Spring are advised to take at least one core course from the Department of Linguistics or the Department of Translation & Interpreting Studies during the Fall semester to avoid delays in their graduation.
To do so, please get in touch with our Double Major advisors before September 8, prior to Fall semester course registration:

Your request will go through a preliminary evaluation. Please include a statement of purpose and your current transcript in your email.
You can access the application form here. After completing the form and obtaining the required signatures, please attach a copy of your most recent transcript and submit the documents.
After you are accepted:
- The double major program must be completed within 10 semesters (exclusive of one semester spent as an Erasmus student). Summer school semesters are not counted towards the maximum duration.
- You will be assigned an academic advisor from each department.
- During the double major program, you are expected to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above, although your cumulative GPA can fall to 2.90 for one semester only. The cumulative GPA at graduation must be 3.00 or above.

The minimum requirements to apply for a double major program in the Foreign Language Education Department are as follows:
a) Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above
b) One-page Statement of Purpose
c) Interview
d) A recent transcript
